Missed opportunities
It is still the first week of January and we have two deaths that no one had and no one saw coming. This will be an open forum for us to opine on the dead pool, as we proceed through 2005.
Rep. Robert Matsui died suddenly and unexpectedly from pneumonia due to a rare bone marrow disease that no amount of internet research could have diagnosed.
Locally, we lost an icon of kitschy bake sales with the passing of H. David Dahlquist, the inventor of the bundt pan. What can I say about H. D. Dahlquist that hasn't already been said? Thanks to his genius, the annual Hadassah bake-off has been an occassion for unbridled celebration and uniform pieces of cake since the 50's. We'll miss ya H. David!
